This is a perfect example of how Retweeting works.
With over 280 million monthly active users, Twitter has become one of the main stages of the Social Media world.
Of course, with over 500 million Tweets being sent every day, we need to do everything we can to ensure our Tweets are being read.
One way of doing this is by having our Tweets shared, or Retweeted. You know, you’ll tell two friends, and they’ll tell two friends, and so on, and so on, and so on …
Here’s 10 things you can to do increase the amount of ReTweets you get.
- Place links in the middle of the Tweet – Tweets with a URL in the middle of the tweet are 26{f6f7d31e87099d0d6b7ac3a4bf513410b4bc7fc64f9a286f558d07e02807de3e} more likely to get Retweeted than if the link is at the beginning or the end.
- Use hashtags – Tweets with hashtags have a 33{f6f7d31e87099d0d6b7ac3a4bf513410b4bc7fc64f9a286f558d07e02807de3e} greater chance of getting Retweeted than Tweets with hashtags. Don’t over do it though, one or two hashtags is sufficient.
- Keep your Tweet under 100 characters – Tweets can only contain 140 characters, so if you want your followers to Retweet your post, make it easy for them. You don’t want them to have to edit it before retweeting.
- Use images – Using images in a Tweet can increase the likelyhood of a Retweet by 34{f6f7d31e87099d0d6b7ac3a4bf513410b4bc7fc64f9a286f558d07e02807de3e}. Make sure you are using Twiiter pictures though. Instagram or Facebook pictures end up being Tweeted as links, rather than images.
- Tweet at the optimum times – Do some research to find out when the majority of your followers are online, and Tweet accordingly. Use a tool like SocialBro to find out the best time to tweet.
- Use mentions – Mentioning other Twitter users will significantly increase your chance of being Retweeted as they will want to respond.
- Retweet – If your are Retweeting other people’s content, they may take notice and Retweeet your content.
- Ask for a Retweet – Simply asking for a Retweet can help get your post shared. Use this sparingly though. If you are asking for a Retweet with every post, you will soon start to get ignored.
- Post valuable content – Simply posting content that people will want to share can increase your Retweets. Post content that is interesting to your followers, local events, news, feel good-good stories, etc.
- Be Social – Make sure you are commenting on other people’s posts. Interact with other users. Tweet about your personal life as well as your business so that people can get to know you. People are more likely to share Tweets from someone they have gotten to know and like.
